Services: Protective Coatings
Protective Coatings You Can Trust to Head Off Shut-Downs.
Inspection, maintenance and repair are only part of the story. You need the reliability of Whertec to provide spray coatings that keep your operations protected, productive and powerful. We create specialized, custom-formulated coatings for every job, every time, with the proprietary coatings solutions we’ve developed over thousands of jobs.
Ceramic Coatings
Tubes took a beating until we invented Tube Armor™ or, as we call it, our Triple-play spray: Save money. Reduce Emissions. Increase reliability and profit.
Tube Armor thermal spray coatings provide different beneficial characteristics and properties and allow for quick, visual detection of high-wear problem areas. These proprietary ceramic coatings protect your systems at minimum cost and ensure maximum uptime and profitability. The pore-free coatings improve reliability for boilers and pressure vessels.
The applied ceramic elements bond to the metal substrate to form an abrasion and corrosion resistant surface that is non-reactive, non-wetting, and thermal shock resistant. The technology is tested and proven in circulating fluidized bed boilers, pulverized coal-fired boilers, waste-to-energy boilers, and Waste Heat units that retard erosion and corrosion. Tube Armor is your best defense against shutdowns, inefficiency and high fuel costs.
Thermal Sprayed Coatings
Whertec metal, ceramic and cermet coatings protect metal substrates against erosion and corrosion. By applying engineered solutions to tube wastage areas, we can help reduce downtime and maintenance costs.
- HVOF – (high-velocity oxy-fuel). This on-site process is especially effective with high-performance powder coatings such as tungsten carbide, chrome carbide, super alloys and inter-metallic materials. It gives density, hardness, bond strength and more protection per thousandth of an inch, significantly outperforming other methods of application.
- TWAS – (twin-wire arc spray) & HVHD-ARC. This arc spray technology offers quality and economy with on-site application of corrosion-and wear-resistant coatings of nickel chrome, INCONEL®, HASTALLOY® and stainless steel materials.
- HVHD-ARC (high velocity high density arc spray). This spray method provides a denser and less porous coating than TWAS. HVHD maintains the speed of application of the twin-wire process with improved corrosion and erosion resistance similar to HVOF.
- SPRAY & FUSE COATINGS. Similar to brazing technology, fused coatings provide the ease of a thermal spray with the tough, high-wear characteristics of a hard-face weld overlay. By using a boron and silicon spray as a flux, this material makes a strong metallurgical bond when exposed to high temperatures in the boiler.
